Our Favourite Summer Cocktails!

Some great cocktail ideas to beat the summer heat!

It finally feels like summer is here to stay. Time for weekends at the lake, pool parties, relaxing on the patio with a cocktail (or 3). Did you know that our favourite cocktails right now are starring tea and COFFEE!? Find the recipes for these "hot" beverages in this post.

That's right, tea! We hosted a beautiful High Tea event on May 7th and Candice Wigan, co-owner of Revival House Restaurant created a signature tea cocktail featuring Sloane Tea. The Long Island Jasmine Pink Lemonade is light and refreshing, girly with just the right amount of sweetness. Perfect for a girls weekend or a sunny day by the pool. Thank you for sharing it with us Candice!

Long Island Jasmine Pink Lemonade

1 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice

If you haven't made a Moscow Mule at home before, you need to try it now! They are unbelievably refreshing, and VERY easy to make. Try this simple recipe from our friends at 3/4 Oz Tonic Maison in Montreal. Their 3/4 Oz Ginger Ale syrup is made with fresh ginger juice, honey and hops for a perfectly tangy, all-natural ginger ale and the key to a PERFECT Moscow Mule.

Moscow Mule Maison
3/4 oz of Tonic Maison Ginger Ale syrup
1 1/4 oz of your favourite vodka
2-3 oz of sparkling water
juice of a lime wedge.

Fill a copper (or metal) mug with ice, add ingredients, garnish with a lime wedge et voila!

Try 3/4 Oz Tonic Maison Ginger Ale with just sparkling water and a squeeze of lime for a non-alcoholic thirst quencher too. It was a hit at our Spring Open House on May 1st! Find more recipes, like Cherry Cola Popsicle (umm, amazing) from 3/4 Oz Tonic Maison here.

Yep, that's coffee! If you like coffee, and enjoy iced coffee then you are going to love Coffee Tonic. Think of it as a fizzy iced coffee...we made a version at our Open House on May 1st using Balzac's Nitro Cold Brew Coffee and Fever-Tree Indian Tonic. The result is unexpectedly bright tasting and refreshing, we're hooked! You could also use a shot of espresso if you have an espresso machine at home, or make a pot of french press coffee (about double strength) and let it chill in the fridge for a few hours.

Coffee Tonic
2 oz Fever-Tree Indian Tonic
2 oz cold coffee or espresso

Fill a double walled glass tumbler with ice (like these). Add tonic then slowly add the coffee so it floats on top. Cold coffee may not float like espresso or Nitro Cold Brew, but don't worry, it still tastes great! This is a non-alcoholic beverage but wouldn't it be a great way to change up your traditional G & T? so go ahead, add a shot of gin in there for a truly unique coffee cocktail. And if anyone asks why you're drinking a cocktail in the morning, just tell them it's coffee ;) You can read more about this cool coffee trend here.
